Does anyone have recommendations for a good rice cooker/steamer? Preferably one that's not too big (something that makes 3 cups of rice would be fine).

Oooo. I especially am intrigued by the "spherical heating system." I do want to get a rice cooker that can handle brown rice well..... Do you know if there is a substantial difference in how different machines deal with different rice?

I would imagine there to be not much difference. But then again, I make [livejournal.com profile] poetofthefuture make rice for me, so I'm definitely not the expert here...

According to the Ultimate Rice Cooker Cookbook, which you can "look inside the book and read it's description of different types of rice cookers, there is a difference between the ways that rice cookers handle brown rice. Who knew.

Holy crap! I read through the first few pages of that Ultimate Rice Cooker Cookbook, and it sounds like what I'm used to (what my mom used) is the cook-and-reduce-heat type. I will now search for one of those in area stores.... ;)

Yeah - my parents use the "Tatung" brand heat and reduce type rice cooker as well. I grew up with one of these in the house. Where to buy them in the United States? I have no idea.
