pylduck: (look!)
Can't seem to wake up this morning, even after my coffee (and a scone and two tomatoes and some bites of cheddar and brie cheeses....).

I swear I am not stalking him, but Craig is cute in that friendly/geeky kind of way. Also, my brother-in-law, who lives in the same area as Craig, apparently knows him, and asked if I want to meet him.

MMMMM.... these two women just came in with a large cake box (it looks like a cake box.... and possibly smells like cake....) for the associate director who's not in yet. I want to open it! Would it be bad for me to eat her cake before she gets here?

Update: The box contained an assortment of cookies, donuts, and donut bites. Mmm.... I swear I've been eating on average three or four cookies a day this past week.

I saw these mojito mints mentioned on the Food Network program UNWRAPPED. Now I want some.

So someone at work has a wildly proliferating tomato plant, and she brought in lots of vine-ripened, tasty tomatoes for people to take home. I brought home a couple lunch bags-full. I'm going to make some marinara sauce with most of it. But tonight, I tried making this dish my mom used to make. I sauteed a package of fake beef strips (heated according to package instructions) and set it aside. Then I added some more vegetable oil to the pan, threw in some chopped garlic, and then dropped in two sliced tomatoes (cut into wedges). I sauteed the garlic and tomatoes for about five minutes until it had reduced a bit, then I added a few splashes of soy sauce. I stirred things a bit more, then added back the fake beef. And once everything was thoroughly mushy, voila! I ate the beef-tomato dish with sauteed garlic spinach and steamed rice.
