After getting up today (shortly before noon.... I didn't get to sleep until about five-thirty in the morning), I noticed that Mr. Giles's ear was looking much worse.... red and gunky and swollen. I called the vet and got squeezed in for a quick appointment in a half hour. The vet said Mr. Giles has a yeast infection in his ear and prescribed an antifungal drop to be administered twice a day for two weeks. I also asked the vet about sores that have appeared around his lower lip. She said that the rawness and sores are probably from unclean food and water bowls. Oh, we totally fail as dog caretakers. Mr. Frog just washed the bowls. We should probably clean them every week. The doggy was very cute yesterday curled up between me and the frog on the couch.
