scary books
Dec. 10th, 2005 09:37 amI spent most of yesterday and about an hour this morning reading through the three-year (five strips/week) archive of Scary Go Round. It was fun. Then I bought the BOOKS RULE! t-shirt because they so totally do.
I think I just made a new friend of a PhD student in Library and Information Sciences at UIUC. I've been corresponding with her regarding a graduate student conference there for Asian American studies. Though my dissertation doesn't address children's literature, I am totally interested in it (and am in fact delinquent on an article-length paper about Allen Say and Ed Young's visual grammars). This other student has a research focus on Asian American (particularly Korean American) children's literature. Plus, she's doing library science stuff and is on a mission to convince more Asian Americans to enter the field. I totally gave her license to convert me.
I should go make and eat some breakfast now.
