perfect timing!

I dropped off my laptop at the Apple store this morning. The logic board seems to have failed again. I have the worst timing with computer problems -- always during the holiday season when the turn-around for getting things fixed is longer. I hope I managed to copy everything I need for the next week on my flash disk. Ugh.

After dealing with the computer, I went and bought myself a hat, corduroy blazer, and shirts. I also need to look into getting some student loans....

I am totally looking forward to this coming week of vacation. It might even be good for my dissertation writing that I don't have my computer. I'm going to try to write things out by hand or on Rob's computer (which I just noticed doesn't have Microsoft Word).

pathetic fallacies

To add insult to injury, the cable service to my apartment has been down all afternoon, finally reviving just a few minutes ago. Since I have everything cable -- high speed internet, tv, and telephone -- this mean I have been essentially on a desert island since this morning. I know it's a pathetic fallacy to see in the world around me responses to my emotional state, but why else is it that everything falls apart at the most inopportune time? Technology weeps and fails for my woes.

Oh well. Off to a colloquium discussion about Brazilian cosmetic surgery practices. Gotta love cultural anthropologists.
