I think my dog's expression captures well how I feel about today's local news report on the unlikelihood of a mass rail transit system in the Raleigh-Durham area. It's sad because I think it would be wonderful to be able to hop a train around the area instead of driving everywhere.

How do costs go up 8x in ten years? Amazing.

Inflation? I suck with money/budgets. I didn't even notice the huge jump in estimated costs. What sucks is that every couple years the newspapers have some coverage of plans for the commuter train. But those plans seem to be stuck in this constant stage of revising estimates.

When you are dictator of North Carolina, maybe you can also decree Duck, North Carolina, a special haven for ABD job seekers. People can go there to hang out and be feathery.

No problem. Being dictator, everything goes my way. At least, until I get hunted by foreign military bodies and arrested for human rights violations for which those foreign military bodies are so also guilty. But I'll re-dedicate Duck, NC first thing.
