application oops!

Just got an e-mail from a school, noting receipt of my application but also this:
We thank you for your interest, but ask you to be aware that the opening is for a senior level position and not for an Assistant Professor as noted in your application.
I totally read over the line in the job ad about "tenured level" candidate and thought it said "tenure-track position." Ha ha.

At least they read your application?

hmm

This is true.

A former student of mine just asked me to write her a letter for her application to graduate school in one of the programs I have applied to for a job. It would be excellent if we both ended up there.

That is cool. Good luck to both.

Too funny! Imagine they also hadn't realizes you'd misread it, and called you in for an interview!

ha

That would be funny. Though of course a tenured professor's c.v. would look very different from mine, leading me to question whether or not the department would be a good place to work!
