whoah

I'm horribly grumpy this morning. I think it's just waking up and realizing how much I have to do today. In addition to the usual job search-teaching double punch, I have two back-to-back reading group meetings tonight. This means I'll be sitting and talking shop from 6-10 pm. Ugh. I think that prospect is making me most grumpy.

I felt myself on the verge of hyperventilation while driving puppy to day care earlier this morning. I totally need to find a way to relax.

Around here, we do stress-related baking. It takes a finite amount of time, it's possible to follow directions, and it's also possible to finish. Those are significant possibilities.

Hope your day goes better.

deep breaths

Yeah, I was telling a friend yesterday that I'm forcing myself to go to the gym at least 4 times a week because it's something that's discrete and accomplishable (yet ongoing). It hasn't been as stress-relieving as I had hoped, though I am glad I am maybe getting back into the routine.

I'm trying to avoid people so I don't blow up at them. It'll be hard now that I'm in office hours for the next two hours.... (Pity my students!)

People tell me the gym is more relaxing if you have an orgy in the showers. Never tried it myself, but I get how that might work.

Guess I need to find a gym that's not solely populated by soccer moms (with kids in tow) during the times I exercise....

Yeah, probably. Soccer dads, on the other hand . . .
