mac mini

I got a Mac Mini today. I dropped my iBook this afternoon. It's not working. I took it to the Apple Store but couldn't get tech support until tomorrow morning. I used this as an excuse to get a Mac Mini. Also, I haven't been using the new LCD monitor my dad got me last spring. I figure this was a good way to make use of it.

I think I was supposed to get the new operating system Leopard on it. But it's the previous version. Tomorrow morning I'll have to remember to ask about that. :P

Have you checked the box that says "Designed by Apple in California"? My Leopard upgrade disc was in there along with my Tiger backup discs.

Hmm. It looks like I just have Tiger install discs. I'll just ask them at the store tomorrow.

Take it back with you when you go - they may be able to swap it out for one that's pre-installed. Otherwise they are supposed to give you the upgrade disks so you can stick the new OS on there yourself.

It really seems kind of silly, but they are mailing the upgrade disk to me. :( I tried to get them to give me the disks there or just to load it on while I wait for the upgrade disks to arrive, but they refused.

If it makes you feel any better, Leopard's not really all that. Time Machine is nice, but it's the only thing I can really recommend about it. And the nice thing about Apple OS upgrades is that you can just install it on top of your previous stuff. Would that you can do that with Windows.

I hope Time Machine works well for me. 'Cuz, um, I'm really lazy, but I REALLY need to start backing up stuff. This is the second time I've had complete hard drive failure in the last five years.
