coffee cup lids

I just got a cup of coffee at my neighborhood coffee shop. They have these strange, different coffee cup lids. I mentioned, "These lids look strange." And the coffee guy responded, "Yeah, they're like, weird, techno lids." Sitting down now at home to drink the coffee, I notice that the lips-lid interface is clunky. I feel like I'm trying to drink coffee while sucking on a plastic contraption. Very disconcerting.

OMG it IS all about the lip-lid interface!! I got a coffee the other day, and they were out of the regular lids. The whole coffee experience was qualitatively different to the point of ruined! I wanted my money back, but I thought that would seem petty. But you, you understand!
