(un)productivity

I just wrote a 950-word missive to a graduate student in my program. I gave her comments on the seminar paper she is revising for her master's essay. I'm not her advisor, but since I haven't met her before, I wanted to read her paper and meet her early in the process. (I've agreed to be a reader.)

If only I could write 950 words in a couple hours for my dissertation (or other assorted, overdue writing projects).... And those two hours included reading the 18-page paper!
