typos and informal e-mails

I hate when I try really hard to compose a formal e-mail with a salutation, appropriate tone, distinct paragraphs, and a signoff line, but then I miss a glaring typo. I suppose it's still better than just sending off an informal e-mail (hey what's up) for these purposes, but it makes me feel so stupid when the response containing my original message shows that typo.
