Traffic in the area is horrendous. There is no parking on campus (at least none that is "legal") since everything is blocked off for campus move-in operations. I should've expected as much. But I made my way in here to campus to make use of the scanner at the library (currently loudly scanning articles for my class) and to pick up some more books at the other library later. This is all taking much longer than I had hoped. I might be out of here by 4. Here's hoping.

I'm having this most delicious chocolate raspberry tart at Bean Trader's Coffee Shop. It's yummy. With coffee.
There were just way too many people (students, parents) on campus this afternoon. Campus is best in the summer when there are very few people about. It's kind of funny, given my projected profession, how I feel towards masses of students. Or maybe it's just masses of people in general. They make me want to run and hide in my own little corner with a book. At least I think campus during the school year is generally calmer than it was today.
Ha ha. This feeling that the students are getting in the way of my work (preparing articles in PDF for a class and checking out more library books) is kind of ironic. It's like how Barbara Ehrenreich describes her feelings towards Wal-Mart customers while she works there; they do not provide the reason for her job, but rather serve as obstacles to her work in folding clothing and keeping displays neat. (Once again, I am participating in the UNC Summer Reading Program which has chosen Ehrenreich's Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America this year. There's been far leess of a controversy this year compared to last year when the program chose readings from the Qu'ran, but apparently there are some malcontents anyways -- see the column, The Antichrist of North Carolina by Ehrenreich in the local weekly.)
