I should become an avid philatelist. The last thing I need is something else to collect, though, pack rat as I am already. Yesterday Rob and I helped Patrick move across the street to a new apartment. Patrick was trying to winnow away his belongings to the bare essentials. I already picked up his extra bed the other night and a wooden ball (?). He kept offering me knick-knacks while we were moving stuff. I now also have his dorm fridge. I almost took a small wooden boat, too (to put on the wall as decoration, of course!), but Rob gave me a disapproving look so I stopped the madness.
But back to stamps. I don't know if I want to have stamps all in an album so much as I want to use lots and lots of different ones. I got these cool thirty-seven-cent
antique toys stamps the other day. I've still got the
Langston Hughes, flower, and love stamps in the thirty-four-cent denomination.
I want to get the
Houdini stamp, but I'm confused now as to whether it's 34 or 37 cents. In my
USA Philatelic, it's listed as a 34 cent stamp. But on-line, while the picture still shows it as a 34 cent stamp, it's listed as a 37 cent stamp. Hmmm.... Mysterious Houdini magic? You can look at the Houdini stamp through a special viewer and see previously-invisible chains wrapped around his body. Very cool.
