shower heads

Wow. The shower heads in this hotel can only be described as punishing. I like having more water pressure in my showers, but this is more than more. There are two settings -- the weaker is like "you've been bad" punishing, and the stronger is like "run away if you want to live" punishing. I feel like I've been hosed down in a prison yard or something.

It's all psychological conditioning, designed to help you think things like "You know, a 4/4 load isn't such a bad thing, especially when coupled with a $38,000/year salary..."

Seriously, though...good luck with your interviews. I have a great deal of sympathy for anyone suffering the slings and arrows of outrageous MLA.

Heh. I hope I'm not one of those people who thinks fighting tooth and nail to stay "in" the profession (i.e. adjuncting at two or three colleges for almost enough to pay for living expenses) is a good thing. I'm actually actively considering other professional work. I recently talked to a friend who's a librarian to see about what that kind of career entails and all that. I'm giving this job search thing two years. And if nothing substantial turns up in that time, I'm totally jumping ship to something else.
