whee!
Ok, I need to settle down to work on my paper now that I've seen the [wonders] of a veritable zoo. I know what I have to do to write my paper now, though it means jettisoning most of what I've actually written. I'd become stuck because I was too immersed in what other people have written on Pauline Hopkins and Of One Blood; my paper was a bibliographic essay of critical work as opposed to a focused reading of my own. I talked to the professor yesterday afternoon and she helped me to reimagine the process of writing this paper so that I can get back to what I might want to say about the novel and its relation to cultural production of the time (and in relation to current literary criticism and African American Studies). Toodles for now.
